12th April 2013: The Ultra 6 Challenge is on!
You might remember that in 2011 we supported the crazy and successful Sunshine Challenge?
Well – the guys are at it again – this time pushing themselves even further – and still using ‘bagsofHEALTH’ Energy Balance to sustain them in their training and new Ultra 6 challenge!
They have just over 6 days to get from John O’Groats to Land’s End – running a marathon and cycling 100 miles every day. If they do it in less than 6.4 days they will break the World Record!
Once again they are raising funds for the Army Benevolent Fund – aiming for £50,000.
We are delighted to again be involved in such a mad venture for a brilliant cause. Please help us to give them all the support they need! We will be really happy to donate half of the profits from any purchase made by the following means:
Just email us your order via our contacts page on this website, quoting Ultra 6 in the title, and then collect your ‘bagsofHEALTH’ from The Clinic on the Green at 120 Clifton, York, YO30 6BQ, 01904 673050.
Let’s make the guys’ efforts worthwhile together! We’re training alongside them – well we’re eating our porridge every day – not sure about the running and cycling! But who knows what we might do with all the extra energy from our Energy Balance!
3rd October 2012: Our Name Change is Complete!
The switch to our new brand name is complete! And a big thank you to all our regular customers, and new ones alike, for responding so well to the new name! In fact it’s attracted lots of attention at the food festivals this year – diabetic specialist nurses and GPs have given us their approval and are now actively pointing their patients to our products! So all is good in our world, where we remain totally committed to ensuring you have a truly healthy breakfast choice.
21st May 2012: Announcing our New Brand Name! “bagsofHEALTH”
Buddha’s teachings remind us that apparent problems sometimes work out for the best – “who knows if it’s good, who knows if it’s bad?”
So when Nestle decided to take exception to our “morethanOATS” (they still haven’t explained why but they have nonetheless given us an ultimatum to change our name or find the funds for a legal fight!) we kept a calm head and treated it as an opportunity to put Buddha’s teaching to the test!
We are now delighted to introduce you to our new brand “bagsofHEALTH” – the same great stuff with a name that much more aptly describes just what we here at Wilson & Richardson are all about. This was launched at the Malton Food Lovers’ Festival this weekend, and was very well received. We’re sure our “bagsofHEALTH” are easily recognisable to all our “morethanOATS” customers, but just in case here’s our new look:
We hope Nestle will agree that “bagsofHEALTH” can never be inadvertently confused with their own products!
Let us know what you think to our new name – as always it’s your opinion that matters most to Wilson & Richardson.
5th March 2012: Our Food Festival Dates for 2012 – watch out for our banners!
It’s nearly Food Festival time again! This year we have plenty of opportunities to say hello to all our valued customers, and hopefully plenty of new ones too, as we are booked to attend more festivals than ever before.
Our season starts on 21st and 22nd April at Chatsworth House – a great day out anyway, but even better to be able to grab your bag of W&Rs!
After that you can catch us at Leyburn, from 5th to 7th May. A different style but equally fab day out!
Then we’re at Malton on the 19th and 20th May. The link will tell you more about this year’s Malton Food Festival: http://www.maltonfoodfestival.co.uk/
Followed the very next weekend at the Derbyshire Food festival, this year again being held at Hardwick Hall.
And finally (at least for now) we’ll be at the new festival being held for the first time this year on Saturday 16th June at Ripon Racecourse.
Later into the autumn we’ll hopefully be at Beverley again, and also at another new festival in Driffield on Saturday 8th September.
We’d love to see at any or all of the great food festivals that our region has to offer. Do come and say hello.
Also this month it’s Congratulations to Hovingham Village Market!

Many congratulations to all the winners at last night’s Food Awards 2011, and especially to Howardian Hebrideans who won the category that we were shortlisted for: Outstanding Newcomer. Of course this is a really special weekend for us – it is exactly a year ago that we launched our ‘morethanOATS’ into the marketplace – so do come and say hello. We’d love to meet all those who have helped us to achieve such a lot in the past 12 months: we can hardly believe that in just a year you can find us in over 20 outlets around North and East Yorkshire; that we have been so embraced in the sporting community that ‘morethanOATS’ is sustaining serious sporting ventures such as the Sunshine Challenge; and our proudest achievement of course being shortlisted in the deliciouslyorkshire Food Awards 2011.
You will also be able to find us at Beverley Food Festival on Sunday 2nd October.
5th September 2011: Great News for us in the deliciouslyorkshire Food Awards 2011

19th August 2011: Sunshine Challenge – Go Go Go!
Catterick Garrison at 8:30 this morning saw an exciting frenzy of activity as the Sunshine Challenge got underway. Finally, after months of preparations the guys took the first steps of their 2000 mile journey from Yorkshire to Gibraltar. You can follow their progress as they blog along their way, or even sponsor their crazy brave venture (please!!) at http://www.sunshinechallenge.org/. We are proud to send them on their way with 5kg of sultana and cashew muesli and 5kg of date and walnut muesli, both made with our ‘morethanOATS’ Energy Balance, and over 100 of the fabulous Peanut Power Bars (recipe on our recipes page) made with our ‘morethanOATS’ Easy Tummy blend. Already the Peanut Power bars have gone down well with the guys in their final few days of training. We wish them every success and are delighted that they have allowed us to be a part of this great adventure. p.s. look closely to spot both our W&R and ‘morethanOATS’ logos on the guys’ shirts!
22nd July 2011: More Extreme Endurance Sports Supported by Wilson and Richardson
The Sunshine Challenge is fast approaching – and ‘morethanOATS’ will be truly put to a serious test! We can’t wait! We absolutely know that we are up to the challenge!
So we are delighted that tomorrow Alex Knill sets off on the long drive to John O’Groats to start his cycle ride to Land’s End – also supported on his journey by ‘morethanOATS’ Energy Balance. Good luck Alex!
26th May 2011: Supporting the Sunshine Challenge
Have you heard of the Sunshine Challenge yet? If not then let us elaborate: two Yorkshire guys are crazy enough to be planning to run 25 marathons and cycle 1250 miles from Yorkshire to Gibraltar. Not content with that they will kayak the 26 miles across the English Channel! They are doing all this for the Soldiers’ Charity, and are aiming to raise £50,000. Take a closer look at their venture on http://www.sunshinechallenge.org/
We are thrilled to share with you that Wilson & Richardson will be providing the breakfasts and some lovely snacks made from our ‘morethanOATS’ (the recipes will appear on our page here on the website!) for Andy and Dave on their Sunshine Challenge. That’s a nice compliment for our products and testimony to the quality and real benefits that they can provide to sustain our sporty customers. We wish Andy and Dave lots of success for their worthwhile cause.
